Telately is the collection and study of all smartcards. The word "telately" is derived from the Greek words "tele" which has the meaning of over a distance and "ataleia" which means exemption from payment.
The combined word "tele-ateleia" thus has the meaning “Exemption from payment for (communication) over a distance”.
Because of the “over a distance” connotation, telately includes all types of prepaid phonecards, SIM cards, credit cards, shopping cards, ATM cards and any other cards that communicates over direct wires, telephone or radio to a computer on a prepaid, credit or direct debit basis.
